Year Up

Year Up is a nonprofit organization with the mission to close the Opportunity Divide by providing urban young adults with the skills, experience, and support that will empower them to reach their potential through professional careers and higher education. Year Up provides a year-long job training boot camp for some of the country’s most disadvantaged young adults. So far, thousands of graduates are now working at companies like J.P. Morgan, American Express, and Facebook. The result is that many of the country’s most powerful CEOs are finding that they can do well by also doing good.

Working with their six core values, ENV took the design approach of simplicity and honesty with the building’s architecture and integrated the client’s use of the space to make an open and vibrant new environment.

Year Up wins NYCxDesign/ICFF/Interior Design Award

Taking our cues from Year Up's six core values along with the chamfered edges of the building, we introduced a hexagon theme in many of the design elements, connecting the physical space to the corporate spirit.

Year Up wanted an opportunity to express its community and team work in the space. As part of the design, we incorporated a large wall space by their main cafe area. Through a large mural, sketched and painted by a professional graffiti artist team and Year Up's young adults, they created a one-of-a-kind art piece to enjoy everyday.
